Q&A Fashion and beauty Look and feel your big-day best with help from the professionals DANCEFLOOR READY I’m looking for an elegant dress that’s easy to dance the night away in. What would you suggest? Katy says: If it’s hard to walk in, it’ll be even harder to dance in, so consider something lightweight and not too tight fitting around your legs. If you’re planning to dance the night away, you may prefer an A-line gown or a fit-and-flare silhouette that will allow for more leg movement. We love the elegance of Ozalea, which is new in from the Blue by Enzoani 2022 collection. It’s a simple wedding gown with clean lines and stunning embroidered lace. This beautiful wedding dress also features detachable lace train so you get a dramatic look for walking down the aisle before you simply unhook it for dancing in the evening. THE EYES HAVE IT They say the eyes are the window to the soul. How can I make sure they pop and are the feature of my make-up on my big day? Jane says: Here are some speedy tricks to make sure those pretty peepers pop and withstand those emotional moments, keeping your eye make-up flawless all day. ❤ Summer weddings are great, but hay fever not so much. Invest in some antihistamine eye drops and tablets to keep red itchy eyes under control. ❤ Prep lids with a good eye primer, which makes for smoother shadow application, keeping colour vibrant and crease-free. I recommend Urban Decay. ❤ Dark circles make skin look dull and eyes look small. Hide them with a concealer that’s slightly lighter than your skin tone. For really dark circles, use an orange- or red- based concealer. Blend in underneath your foundation, then apply a lighter concealer on top of the foundation. ❤ Good quality pigmented eyeshadow will last all day, again I recommend Urban Decay. ❤ Create big, bold eyes with depth by applying a lighter shadow all over the lids, then use a darker one in the crease for added dimension. Finally, apply a darker shade to the the outer corner and blend for a seamless look. ❤ For that perfect, professional finish, apply concealer over the centre of the lid up to the crease, then add sparkle on top to make the eye pop. ❤ Choose a colour to suit your eye colour and skin tone. Brown eyes look great with anything, whereas green eyes suit pinks, purples, pale blues and warm earth tones. Blue hues are similarly enhanced with pinks, purples and brown golds. Light tones are complemented by a brown waterproof eyeliners, while brown eyes will pop with black liner. Work the product into the lash line as close to the lashes as your can. Or for a smokier look, apply a brown or black eyeshadow onto your lower lash line with a small brush. Just make sure the top and bottom lines meet the outer corner of the eye. ❤ For added drama, use waterproof liquid liner and flick the outer corner. ❤ Build lashes, first by curling then by adding volume using a white lash primer. Then finish with waterproof mascara in either black or black/brown for a softer look. Alternatively, choose a strip lash, individual lashes or semi permanent. ❤ Brows frame the face, so take a white lash primer and brush through to add volume and definition. Fill in any spaces with an eyeshadow close to your natural colour, and brush through using feathery strokes, up and over towards the tail following the natural arch of the brow. ❤ Finally, add a touch of light-reflecting shadow on your inner eye area and dust under your brow bone. This trick will give the appearance of light bouncing off your eyes. CONTACT OUR EXPERTS Jane Dare, www.eyedomakeup.co.uk | Katy Nochar, www.krystlebrides.co.uk Getty images 84
