Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - April/May 2021 (Issue 82)

All the latest from around the regions NEWS A LITTLE ROMANCE Recent government restrictions have crushed thousands of couples’ dreams of a big wedding, and venues such as Maunsel House, which are used to hosting large weddings each weekend, have been left empty. When restrictions started to ease, the venue began offering intimate micro- weddings, and the sound of laughter and joy were brought back to the house. One couple, Josh and Thaissia, changed their plans to meet the 30-guest guideline, then had to quickly rearrange again to a guest list of just 15 people. “The team at Maunsel were brilliant, from our original pre-COVID plans to our twice-rearranged micro-wedding,” Thaissia says. “We had the most amazing day and couldn’t have asked for anything more. Everything ran so smoothly, the food was gorgeous and it felt incredibly special just having our chosen few people there. Despite everything going on, it didn’t take away from the charm of the house, and we’re very much looking forward to coming back in 2022 for our big reception!” Find out more at https://maunselhouse.co.uk READY FOR ACTION Check out this first glimpse of the new Getting Ready Room at prestigious Somerset wedding venue Crowcombe Court. However, for Katie Packham 2020 presented itself with an opportunity to take on the wedding and event business at Pieminister and launch her own company, Mesa Catering. After being the head of events at Pieminister for seven years, and organising events being a passion of hers, this was a very exciting venture for Katie and her team. Starting Mesa Catering meant that Katie could diversify, and she is now partner caterer for all Pieminister events and now The Thali Restaurant too. Couples across the UK can now have their choice of two great Bristol catering options, from formal three-course meals to casual festival-style catering.
