Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - October/November 2020 (Issue 79)

It was a no-brainer that we chose an eight-tiered cake; Matt is 6ft 6in so a short cake wouldn’t work! Each tier was a different delicious flavour to reflect our tastes. Neither of us like traditional fruit cake, but that didn’t stop my mum from making six of them! We tied the knot at Bethel United Church in Bristol followed by The Walled Garden at Orchardleigh Estate for our reception. It was one of just a few venues that could accommodate our number of guests. Our wedding planner, Mati Gono Events, had worked there previously so that sealed the deal. We had 24 tables in total and we used one of our engagement photos for the background of our table plan. Our place settings doubled up as favours, which I loved as it was cost-effective. We made everyone’s names out of wood and sprayed them rose gold to complement the theme. We opted for a romantic, elegant theme with rose gold touches. I chose pale pink flowers and foliage for my bouquet, and the colours followed suit throughout the day. We wanted a garden-style feel to reflect the setting, so we chose a mixture of tall and short centrepieces. 42
