FROM BUCKINGHAMSHIRE With love Sarina and Edward chose the stunning backdrop of Rackleys Chiltern Hills in Buckinghamshire for their English country wedding Images courtesy of Hannah McClune Photography Sarina and Edward met whilst both studying at the University of Brighton on a night out with mutual friends. “Edward proposed during a trip to New York,” Sarina tells us. “He planned an early morning stroll in Central Park to the top of Umpire Rock. He positioned his phone on the ground to get a photograph of us both with the New York skyline in the background and then got down on one knee to ask me to marry him.” The couple chose Rackleys Chiltern Hills for their English country wedding. “We visited Rackley’s on a January day and were blown away by how beautiful the venue looked during the winter, with the views of the Chiltern Hills,” Sarina tells us. “The staff were friendly, and we both felt that it fitted well with our chosen theme. We picked pastel-coloured flowers for the floral arrangements and had wildflowers printed on our stationery to tie everything together.” The couple and their guests enjoyed canapés and champagne during the drinks reception, followed by a delicious three-course meal with wine. “It was important to us that everybody was well fed because food is something we both really enjoy,” Sarina says. “During the evening we had pizzas, cake and sweets.” Sarina wore the bridal dress Rosewood by Suzanne Neville. “I had tried on a few dresses from different stores, but my sister recommended that we visit the Ellie Sanderson shop in Beaconsfield, which is where I tried on the Suzanne Neville gown and loved it,” Sarina tells us. “I decided to order it in the satin fabric there and then! Edward wore a custom-made tuxedo, and his groomsmen also wore tuxedos while our beautiful bridesmaids wore Rewritten dresses in a stunning champagne colour.” During their ceremony, reception and wedding breakfast, the couple had a singer and guitarist, Joe Alexander, performing their favourite songs. “Our guests loved Joe and kept commenting how brilliant he was,” Sarina says. “We also had garden games during our reception and a DJ and photo booth for the evening entertainment. As our wedding favours, we gifted our guests tambourines, and during our wedding breakfast, everybody was on their feet singing, dancing and shaking them. It was incredible to watch our loved ones enjoying our wedding just as much as us!” REAL WEDDINGS 25

Sarah and Josh met online via the dating app Hinge and spoke for a few months before meeting at the pub for their first date. Josh then proposed during a trip in June 2024. “He asked me to marry him while we were on a hike at the Great Wall of China,” Sarah tells us. The couple chose Ufton Weddings as their wedding venue. “We loved everything about it,” Sarah says. “The barn and gardens looked beautiful, and the manor house was magnificent. We liked the fact that all of the money raised from the weddings held there is invested in the children’s educational charity aspect of the venue.” The couple chose a pale pink theme with soft green touches. “This was reflected in the flowers, centrepieces, bridesmaids’ dresses and bridesmen’s suits which were a soft shade of pastel pink,” Sarah says. “The groomsmen wore pastel pink ties and pocket handkerchiefs in keeping with our theme, as well as matching made-to-measure suits which looked great. I wore a lace dress that fitted beautifully, accentuating my figure.” Guests tucked into a fantastic selection of canapés during the drinks reception, followed by a wedding breakfast of smoked haddock tart, duck confit, and Biscoff cheesecake. During the evening, pizza was served. “We had a drinks reception where the singer Alexandra Rose performed,” Sarah says. “She was amazing and helped create a wonderful atmosphere. During our first dance, our friend Andy Skitt performed our song choice outside on the patio just as the sun was setting. He was then joined 32
by another friend, Dan Kendal, who entertained guests with more songs whilst the band set up.” For their evening party, the couple hired the Breakthrough band. “They sounded amazing, and got everybody on the dancefloor throughout the entire evening,” Sarah says. “Our highlight of the day was dancing around and celebrating with all of our family and friends.” REAL WEDDINGS 33

From ring-bearing dogs to horses in engagement shoots, pets are increasingly woven into wedding celebrations in ways that feel both deeply personal and undeniably charming. As traditions loosen and couples prioritise personalisation over formality, dogs, cats, and even more unconventional animals are stepping into ceremonial roles once reserved for humans. For some, pets are the companion adopted together, the constant presence, and the quiet comfort during stressful planning moments. Add in the post-pandemic surge in pet adoptions and the shift toward outdoor weddings, and it’s easy to see why pets now feel less like optional guests and more like nonnegotiable family. Wedding planners report that involving pets is no longer considered niche.
