Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - October/November 2023 (Issue 103)

We catch up with Clare Bellman, founder of Millie Makeup I’m planning a winter wedding – how can I guarantee glowing skin on my big day? Meet the expert: Clare Bellman is the face behind the Berkshire-based Millie Makeup brand. She’s a professional hair and make-up artist based at her studio in Windsor and also offers lash lift treatments and brow lamination. Clare says: Having a winter wedding is like a dream fairytale - think crisp, bright days, possibly snow, elegant dresses with sleeves teamed with faux fur wraps...and dull skin if you aren’t careful! Winter weddings are romantic, but your skin is not always looking its best during the colder months. As always, a good routine will help to give you glowing, hydrated skin. Follow these top tips: •Keep drinking water which is harder during winter but important. •Using a lip balm that penetrates the skin barrier is essential - I like the Lip Sleeping Mask by Laneige. Using this overnight will give your lips plenty of moisture. Also if your lips are chapped, brushing gently whilst you brush your teeth will help clear any dead skin. •Exfoliation always helps, but don’t overdo it during the colder months because it can have the opposite effect. •I know it’s winter but keep on applying your SPF to protect your skin! •Use a cleanser designed for your skin type - overloading your skin or stripping it will cause more dryness and further problems. I recommend the La Roche Posay range of cleansers and toners. •Using an eye cream is important all year round but finding a rich one for those colder months is essential to keep them nourished. I love Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado for super hydration. •A hydrating serum is a great year-round product that will add an extra layer of moisture and glow to your skin. I regularly use serum by The Skin Wizard which is great for skin and hair! •Choosing the right moisturiser for your skin type is key. La RochePosay’s Cicaplast Baume B5 Repairing Balm is rich and not fragranced, so not too heavy despite being a balm with an SPF of 50. Skin Food by Weleda is another firm favourite. •I advise brides to invest in a night oil as an extra step in their skincare routine because it helps to seal in the good work you’re doing with your skin. If you have oily skin, you may need to try one or two different products to ensure you don’t get any breakouts. I love the Intense Night Oil - Rosehip and Retinoid by Votary and 100% ColdPressed Marula Oil by The Ordinary which is good for skin and hair. www.milliemakeupwindsor.com; www.facebook.com/milliemakeupwindsor; www.instagram.com/milliemakeupwindsor Q&A Beauty CONGRATULATIONS!
