Your Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wedding - August/September 2023 (Issue 102)

Kirsty and Sean travelled from the church to their reception in a wedding car decorated with a pink ribbon in keeping with their colour theme. Greeting guests on arrival at their reception was the marquee lining the hall. The tables were elegantly styled with hand-written notes at each place setting alongside sage-green place name cards and pink napkins. “For our centrepieces, we had mini vases placed on each table which was an inexpensive option and looked great,” Kirsty says. “Our table names were after Star Wars characters because Sean is a big fan and we surprised our guests with games and challenges placed on each table to encourage them to mingle.” The couple’s table plan and order of the day board were handmade and trimmed with flowers. “This gave a DIY and rustic-inspired look to our special day,” Kirsty explains. “The interior of the marquee was finished with sage-green paper lanterns suspended from the ceiling along with twinkling fairylights which looked so romantic.” Kirsty and Sean had a wood-fired pizza van at their reception. “We wanted a street food-style truck and our guests loved it,” Kirsty says. “Our delicious wedding cake also went down well. It certainly made a statement decorated with pink flowers and gold foil speckles.” LOOKING THE PART Kirsty wore a chiffon and lace boho-inspired wedding dress by the designer Heidi Hudson. “I loved the A-line design and the simplicity of the gown,” she tells us. “ I was looking for something floaty and lightweight, but with elegant detailing and this offered it all - I fell in love with it as soon as I tried it on!” Kirsty accessorised her dress with a stunning veil, her nana’s necklace and a pair of ivory flat shoes. Sean and his groomsmen looked handsome in their dark blue suits teamed with floral waistcoats, sage-green ties and pocket squares. “Sean stood out from the rest of the male bridal party by wearing a different buttonhole,” Kirsty tells us. Kirsty’s beautiful bridesmaids, who included her sister, Emily wore a variety of sage-green dresses. “I offered them the choice to pick different styles within the colour theme,” she tells us. TIME TO CELEBRATE The couple hired a live band to perform during the evening reception. “They created such a fun atmosphere and our guests loved them and were up dancing!” Kirsty says. “My best man, Jeremy went above and beyond to make sure all of our guests were kept happy and that the day went to plan.” – Sean REAL WEDDINGS 33
