CONQUERS ALL Love Lorna and Matt wouldn’t let a pandemic stand in the way of their dream wedding at The Waltham Barns at Little Channels Images courtesy of Bloomwood Photography W hen Matt smiled at Lorna in the mirror at the hairdressers, her heart melted. “After he left, I asked my hairdresser, John, about him,” Lorna says. “He said he had known Matt and his family for years, and he gave a glowing reference!” As luck would have it, Matt asked John for Lorna’s number and they started messaging. “We met up and went for a drive,” Lorna says. “We got totally lost and ended up sitting in the porch of a beach hut under the moonlight. We spent the evening getting to know each other.” Fast forward into their relationship, and the pair’s shared sense of humour and support for each other meant that they were soon talking about marriage. “We went shopping together to choose my ring,” Lorna tells us. “After picking it up a few days later, Matt got down on one knee on the kitchen floor. It was very us!” The pair chose the beautiful The Waltham Barns at Little Channels as their venue, and set the date for 20 th August, 2020. However, the world was about to change drastically. Working in the Royal London Hospital emergency department meant that Lorna faced the impact of coronavirus constantly. “Work during the pandemic has been insane,” Lorna says. “Trying to plan a wedding as well was heartbreaking at times.” Lorna continues the story… REAL WEDDINGS 37
