Ryan and Lucy first crossed paths at secondary school, just 11 years old. Life carried on and years later, at 19, Ryan got back in touch and asked Lucy out on a date. From that moment on, they’ve been inseparable. In July 2022, while on holiday together in Gran Canaria, Ryan planned the most unforgettable surprise. With the help of a lovely Spanish couple, armed with Google Translate, he asked them to secretly capture the moment on film. As they stood on the beach, Ryan asked Lucy to look out at something in the distance. Completely unaware, she turned… and when she looked back, he was down on one knee, asking for her hand in marriage. Of course, she said yes. To this day, the Spanish couple still message the pair every year, a sweet reminder of the moment their forever began. SETTING THE SCENE Braxted Park Estate’s impressive driveway is what sold the venue straight away. First impressions certainly count! From that moment, the staff, the space and the general ambience continued to tick all the boxes. The focal colour of the day was baby blue, Lucy’s ‘something blue’ - woven beautifully throughout, from the invitations to the bridesmaids’ dresses. The choice also carried special significance, as it honoured the memory of Ryan’s grandfather, Harry, for whom the same shade was used at his funeral.
